The cold days of winter and steaming bowls of freshly made soup often go hand in hand, and this will certainly be the case during a friendly competition planned for Port Washington in the new year.
The area’s Chamber of Commerce will be giving the local culinary community a chance to be center stage during its SOUPer Bowl fundraiser that it has planned for this winter. Local chefs and eateries are can submit an application to be part of the event, and along with crowning the area’s SOUPerBowl Champ, the competition will aid in ensuring that every Port Washington family has nutritious food on the table.
Tickets can be purchased now to attend the contest, and the ticket holders can sample all the soups and then vote for their favorite entry. The top pick will win both bragging rights and the People’s Choice award. The kids in attendance will be invited to choose their own favorite, and the winner of this competition will receive the title of kid’s soup champ.
While the event will be ticketed, the organizers have requested that everyone who participates bring a donation of food, and these will be passed along to families that need a helping hand.
