Tomorrow, author and blogger Julie Powell will be appearing at The Amsterdam in Port Washington, New York.
Foodies and movie lovers are likely to be familiar with Powell, who wrote ‘Julie and Julia’, the book that inspired the renowned Hollywood film. She completed all 524 recipes in a Julia Child cookbook over the course of a single year in 2002. In 2009, she released her second book ‘Cleaving: a Story of Marriage, Meat, and Obsession’, which chronicled her time working as an apprentice in a butcher shop how this dovetailed with her marriage.
The Amsterdam is a retirement home that provides community, care, and assisted living for those who need it. The housing areas are near the water of the Long Island Sound, as well as the hiking trails of Sands Point Reserve and the play area of Harbor Links Golf Course.
This event is open to the public, though they do have to call ahead to reserve tickets. Promoters may want to reach out to printing companies to create Flyers or Posters that they can distribute in the area to draw in more attendees.
The reading will take place on Thursday, June 12. Powell will make two presentations - the first at 11:00 am and the second at 2:30 pm, so attendees will have more opportunities to see her speak.Get a Free Quote for Flyers Get a Free Quote for Posters
