In early June, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) Long Island Chapter will host the 5th Annual Pups and Peeps Loop the Trail Dog Walk to raise money for its cause.
Also called the Paws for Prevention Spring Event, Pups and Peeps will provide a chance for Port Washington dog owners to support local efforts to combat suicide rates while enjoying an outing with their pets. The dog walk will take place at Sands Point Preserve, with attendees receiving free admission to the preserve.
In addition to the actual dog walk, participants can raise money on social media. Those interested can register as an individual, team member, or team captain and upload a picture of their dog to their AFSP profile page, which will then be used as a fundraising page. Every dollar raised earns the fundraising page one vote. Top vote getters will be able to win prizes such as a custom watercolor pet portrait, annual membership to Sands Point Preserve, and AFSP Promotional Products.
The 5th Annual Pups and Peeps Loop the Trail is scheduled for June 6, with check-in beginning at 9:00 am and the actual walk at 10:00 am. The hosting venue, Sands Point Preserve, is located 127 Middle Neck Road, Sands Point, just minutes from Port Washington. More information can be found on AFSP’s website.
