The Company features a diverse group of 17 dancers from around the world, performing modern compositions from Artistic Director Igal Perry, as well as from emerging choreographers. The group has previously toured around the world and performed at major venues like Lincoln Center and the Joyce Theatre. The group was invited to Mamaroneck by the Emelin Theatre after its Spring 2024 Film Club watched Call Me Dancer, starring Mumbai-born dancer Manish Chauhan, who is currently with the Peridance company. The Company describes its mission as
“Guided by core values of Support for Artists, Access to Dance for All, and Community Engagement, PCDC is dedicated to expansive public programming, educational partnerships, and inclusive and equitable processes for all collaborating dancers, choreographers, composers, musicians, and designers.”
The group’s repertory includes work set to classic music by Mozart, Ravel, and Chopin, as well as original compositions. Peridance’s stop in Mamaroneck will include an evening performance and a matinee the next day. Dance shows like this often use methods like poster printing and social media clips to help attract lovers of dance and those looking for a different kind of live event.
Peridance Contemporary Dance Company will be performing at Emelin Theatre in Mamaroneck on October 25 and 26.
