Mamaroneck kids show to go Kaboom!

Children’s science educator Doktor Kaboom will be bringing his unique brand of entertainment to Mamaroneck this February with the “Look Out! Science is Coming!” show,

The program aims to engage children aged 5 to 12 with the subjects of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). With live comedy and high-energy theatre. The show will also feature live demonstrations of chemical reactions and physics oddities. While the show is aimed at a young audience, promotional material emphasizes its broad appeal, stating that:

“every moment is packed with laughs, learning, and explosive (but safe) results. Whether you are a budding scientist or just love a good laugh, this show makes science thrilling and fun.”

In real life, Doktor Kaboom is German-American science teacher David Epley, who has performed in major venues around the country and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The show includes songs and audience interaction to keep children engaged. Educational events like this often use visual, auditory and kinetic approaches ranging from flyer printing to live demonstrations to appeal to different learning styles.

“Look Out! Science is Coming!” will run approximately an hour. The show aims to be sensory-friendly, although audience members with auditory sensitivity bring ear protection.

Doktor Kaboom’s “Look Out! Science is Coming!” will be performed in Mamaroneck at the Emelin Theatre on the morning of February 1.
