The New York State Department of Transportation will be holding an open house in Mamaroneck this April, looking for input on upcoming highway improvements.
The meeting will concern safety enhancements for the stretch of US Route 1 in the Mamaroneck and Larchmont area, limited to the stretch between Dillon and Hornbridge Road. The Department will be presenting potential adjustments to improve safety for all roadway users, including support for cyclists and pedestrians. All citizens from Mamaroneck and Larchmont are invited to take part.
The project being considered will cost approximately $16m in federal and state funding and include curb extensions, improved sidewalks, and pedestrian crosswalks, and related roadway work including resurfacing and drainage improvement. Construction is expected to take place between 2028 and 2029. The plan is part of the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program initiative.
The open house will have DOT representatives present a number of plans, with residents able to ask questions and provide feedback on their needs. Governmental organizations often use public meetings and open houses to solicit community feedback as well as provide information of upcoming changes, with the likes of brochure printing and visual displays used as tools.
The NYSDOT Open House for Route 1 improvements will take place on the evening of Thursday, April 16 at Mamaroneck High School, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Disability accommodations and interpretation services are available on request.
