Mamaroneck to host traditional St. Patrick's Day parade
The Sound Shore St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be returning to Mamaroneck this March for its 13th annual edition, with the first to be held on a Saturday.
The parade will be led by Grand Marshal Matt McCauley, a September 11 first responder and advocate for other first responders. This year will aim to bring attention to McCauley’s charitable cause, as well as its permanent cause of highlighting the contributions of Irish Americans in the Sound Shore area.
The parade will include local marching bands and luminaries. Parades like this often use banner printing and announcements to introduce the marchers. The parade will also award scholarships for upcoming university students, with the past 10 editions of the parade giving away over $60, 000 in total tuition fees.
There will also be an assortment of events leading up to the parade. There will be a formal Hearts & Shamrock cocktail fundraiser on March 6 at the Hampshire Country Club. The first ever “Running of the Gingers” will take place on March 24, a one-mile run with attendees invited to wear a red wig. The Sedona Taphouse will also provide half-off dine out plates on Monday nights throughout March, with part of the purchase going towards the parade organizers.
The 2025 Sound Shore St. Patrick’s Day Parade will take place on the afternoon of March 29 on Mamaroneck Avenue.
