Mamaroneck to host July block party
Plans have been announced for one of Mamaroneck’s biggest summer events, as the Summer on the Ave Block Party once again takes over the village’s downtown.
The event typically draws in thousands of visitors and features a carnivalesque atmosphere with live music, artistic displays, and food and drink on offer. Students from the School of Rock Mamaroneck will be among the musical performers. For children there will be inflatable rides and bouncy castles among other activities. Local vendors and artisans will also be part of the party, offering a variety of items for sale. Vendors will be selected through an online application process, with non-profit organizations offering activities for children such as arts and crafts.
The festival uses flyer printing and social media to help attract residents from Mamaroneck and surrounding areas. Mamaroneck Avenue will be closed to vehicles for the event, with drivers urged to use alternate routes. The block party is hosted by the Mamaroneck Department of Parks & Recreation, one of over a dozen public events hosted by the village’s municipal departments in the summer. Speaking to the Mamaroneck Observer last year, Superintendent Jason Pinto explained the importance of this programming:
