Mamaroneck resident to be honored at charity walk

The Walk MS: Westchester charity event will be taking place this May with a special honoree from Mamaroneck.

The walk aims to raise money for research and treatment of multiple sclerosis, frequently known as just MS. The event is hosted by the local chapter of the National MS Society, with walkers raising money to contribute to the organization from friends and family. The special honoree will be Castellani Milboer, a Mamaroneck teacher who has shared her own story about being diagnosed with MS and has helped the walk grow tenfold in size since first becoming involved in 2021. Milboer will be recognized during an opening ceremony prior to the walk. National MS Society spokesperson Daphne Mack has explained the value of honoring Milboer:

“Heather's story, from the onset of her symptoms over 10 years ago, to her diagnosis, to where she is at today with her MS, is relatable to many and will inspire others who are on this path.”

Participants can choose to walk a one-mile or three-mile route. All routes will be accessible, with mobility devices welcome. Fundraising events like this often use tools like promotional products and social media shout-outs to help encourage participation, and Walk MS will be providing a commemorative t-shirt to those who raise over $100.

The 2025 Walk MS: Westchester will take place on the morning of May 4 at Glen Island Park in New Rochelle, with walkers from nearby areas like Mamaroneck welcome.
