The Mamaroneck Monarch Butterfly Festival will be held for the third time this September, using the occasion of the monarch butterfly migration to provide education and family fun.
The festival will feature educational activities and presentations on the endangered butterfly type and their annual journey south. Young visitors can complete a miniature obstacle course to complete their own “migration,” and take photos in front of a giant wing art installation. There will also be a costume contest for visitors dressed as their favorite pollinator, which can include bees, beetles, hummingbirds, and of course butterflies. While no butterfly appearances are guaranteed, attendees will be on the lookout for monarchs on their way to Mexico.
There will also be live music and vendors offering food, drink, art, and more. Food trucks and other exhibitors at events such as these often offer special giveaways or Promotional Products to help connect with future customers.
The event is co-hosted by the Village of Mamaroneck Committee for the Environment and the town’s Recreation Department. Visitors can receive free native seeds, Books on local wildlife, and more, with the goal of highlighting the treasures of Mamaroneck’s natural environment.
The 2024 Mamaroneck Monarch Butterfly Festival is on Saturday, September 21 at Harbor Island Park. In the event of inclement weather, the festival will be moved to the following day.
