The Raymond Corporation is building a new research and development facility in Henrietta that will advance the technology of forklift batteries.
This new energy solutions center will employ about 40 people who will work on the next generation of fuel cell technologies and lithium ion batteries for warehouse equipment such as pallet trucks and forklifts.
This new facility will include test chambers for downtime, operation, and battery charging; build space for prototypes; a humidity-controlled electronics lab; and an environmental chamber to simulate extreme temperatures for forklifts designed for outdoor shipyards or refrigerated warehouses.
CEO of The Raymond Corporation, Michael Field, said that these are engineering technician positions that come with professional growth opportunities. Field is a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology and said that the greater Rochester area has been a focus of the industry for energy storage for quite some time.
