Henrietta area society to update and expand learning center

The Humane Society of Greater Rochester, located in Fairport, marked a milestone in their Kindness for All Kind Capital Campaign with a ceremonial signing of the beam for the new Karpus Family Foundation Learning Center.

There will be offices, classrooms, guest areas, and meeting spaces in this new center, located at Lollypop Farm, which is designed to strengthen education in the community and inspire future advocates of animals. Such new centers may be of interest to residents in nearby Henrietta.

In addition, the farmyard spaces will be renovated and expanded. There will be facility and infrastructure upgrades to modernize the care of animals; intake and veterinary services will be enhanced with the addition of new donation areas; and there will be improvements to cat and dog kennels. Brochure printing is often used to provide more details about such improvements and their benefits for humans and animals.

Funding for the project has come from both the private and public sectors. The Karpus Foundation made a lead gift of $3 million, in addition to state funding of $5 million, and a gift of $2 million from Tom Golisano.

The president and CEO of Lollypop Farm, Alice Calabrese, said that Lollypop Farm offers more than adoptions, and this project will fund more than infrastructure. She added that education is important, as the services of the farm are designed to keep families and pets together while addressing the root cause of the surrender of animals.
