Henrietta area college undergoes major renovation projects

The campus of the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) will be busy this summer with close to 100 renovation and construction projects. This may be of interest to residents and students in nearby Henrietta.

The residence halls are where the work is most visible. The director of construction/project management and off-campus properties, Michael Dellefave, said that these projects include roofing and masonry work, installing new underground heating pipes and fire alarms, and fitting smart locks in residence rooms.

Fredericka Douglass Sprague Perry Hall and Sol Huemann Hall will have their network cabling replaced and will also have refreshed interiors. New paint, lighting, ceilings, and flooring will revive the College of Liberal Arts.

Booth Hall will get a new graphic design area and media suite, as well as updated lighting and flooring. Gannel and Booth Halls will also have air conditioning installed. University Services Center and Institute Hall will get equipment added to research labs.

Some parking areas will be patched, resealed, and restriped and trees will be planted where needed.

The architect and director of planning and design for RIT, James Yarrington, shed light on what summers mean for the company. In an article on the RIT website, he stresses that while this is downtime for the students, it is one of the busiest times for RIT as it works to ensure projects are complete in time for the new academic year.

Brochure printing can be used to highlight such work and keep college communities informed of how it is progressing.
