What's Happening in Rochester, NY…

Henrietta to become home to new sandwich shop

Jersey Mike’s Subs will be coming to Henrietta in the coming months. This will be the first location of the chain in the town.

This location in Henrietta will span 1,100 square feet in a building that houses a Wingstop and a Starbucks on Hylan Drive in the Jay Scutti Plaza. It is owned and operated by Evan Mayer, who currently owns locations in Rochester, Gates, Brighton, Irondequoit, and Webster. Mayer said that other shops are set up like this, which gives a food court-like synergy.

About 20 people will be employed by the shop and its hours will be 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily. Such upcoming shops and restaurants can benefit from flyer printing to inform residents of their coming to a new part of town.

Jersey Mike’s Subs is a fast-casual chain and serves both cold and hot submarine sandwiches. Its first store was in Point Pleasant, New Jersey and established in 1956. Mayer, a native of the state, was a teenager when he started working there. After college, he moved into other roles, from field representative to vice president of store operations, and then he owned his own store. He has worked for Jersey Mike’s Subs for 27 years.

Mayer is hoping to open the shop in Henrietta sometime before Thanksgiving or Christmas.
