Teachers federation to give workshop in Forest Hills

The United Federation of Teachers will host a workshop near Forest Hills at the organization’s Queens Borough Office.

The District 29 Tenure Workshop is an event where educators can learn about the tenure process. The class will discuss the requirements of tenure and go over the timeline of receiving tenure with attendees. There are many schools in District 29, such as Jackie Robinson Elementary School, Nathaniel Woodhull Elementary School, and The Magnet School for Innovation, Exploration & Engineering. The current Superintendent is Dr. Crystal Bonds, a former student and teacher from District 29.

The United Federation of Teachers is an organization that represents almost 200,000 education professionals, like nonsupervisory teachers, school secretaries, and physical therapists. The group is comprised of three governing bodies, including The Delegate Assembly, The Executive Board, and The Administrative Committee. Several services are offered by the federation, such as the Health and Cancer Helpline, the Victim Support Program, and the Peer Intervention Program.

The tenure workshop will be held on December 7th and will last from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. All participants in the lesson are required to register in advance. Registration for the program will close once the class begins.
