There are several events taking place next month in Queens to celebrate the Asian or Lunar New Year.
This coming year will be the Year of the Monkey, and two events are planned for Flushing Town Hall to mark the occasion.
The ‘Lucky in Love: Traditional Asian Wedding Dress Exhibition’ will be taking place for two weeks next month. This event is curated by Dr. Hsing-Lih Chou of the New York Institute of Culture and Arts. It will feature men's and women's traditional outfits. The opening reception will take place on February 14, beginning at 3:00 pm.
Later on in the month, the 2nd annual Chinese New Year Temple Bazaar will be held. Since this is a popular event, there will be two time sessions: from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM and from 2:00 - 4:00 PM. Guests will enjoy cultural performances, martial arts demonstrations, traditional food, and the opportunity to purchase a wide variety of arts and crafts.
Many of the vendors, who may come from surrounding communities such as Forest Hills, may contact local postcard printing firms to provide them with a large-format business card.
The ‘Lucky in Love’ exhibition will take place at Flushing Town Hall from February 14 to 28. Admission is suggested at $5.
The Chinese New Year Temple Bazaar will be at the same venue on February 20. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children.
