Local restaurant strikes it big

Last month, Georgios Aspiotis of Corfu Grill in Forest Hills won the right to include his chicken kebobs and gyros among the other culinary selections at Citi Field.

Online voting in Citi Small Business Call Ups' contest to find a new addition to Citi Field's selection of food vendors overwhelmingly chose the popular Greek eatery. Aspiotis' establishment received 47% of the voting, beating out contenders not only from Forest Hills but from diners in districts like the Bronx and Manhattan as well.

Winning gives the Corfu Grill the right to sell its food at every Mets home game for the rest of the season, and this began on the first Saturday of July. Aspiotis plans to limit the selections he will offer at the ballpark to gyros, hummus, and kebobs at first but hopes to expand his Citi Field menu to include such offerings as baklava and Greek yogurt.

Winning this contest is likely to give Corfu Grill an incredible sales boost, as well as promotional opportunities well into the future. Mentioning the grills inclusion in the ballpark's concessions on all of its printed materials is just one of the ways Stationery printers could help locations like Corfu Grill to maximize the benefits from this opportunity.

Speaking to the New York Daily News, Aspiotis was bullish about the honor, stating that he won because he was “the best”.
