This month, the Forest Hills Library will be holding an educational presentation about Art Deco architecture in New York.
The Forest Hills Library will be bringing an expert from the Art Deco Society of New York to give a presentation on Art Deco designs in the 1930s and 1940s. The discussion will feature illustrated slides that will allow attendees to better learn about the architectural history of their community. The Art Deco Society of New York aims to advocate for people to appreciate and understand Art Deco culture while preserving existing examples.
There are several events that the society hosts throughout New York to help educate people about the Art Deco culture. The organization holds walking tours through the city to point out structures to guests while providing historical context. Their website lists several partnering businesses and galleries that also promote Art Deco designs. Diptyque is a featured company that creates items like candles and fragrances that can be used as Corporate Gifts.
The Art Deco presentation is a two-part event that will be held on Saturday, June 15. The first portion of the lesson will be from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, while the second part will continue after a short break from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm. There is no fee to enjoy the presentation, though attendees can register online.
