Kitware has unveiled its new headquarters which is located on Rt. 9 in Clifton Park. The company, which offers consulting and research & development and specializes in open-source software, was established in 1998 and the new headquarters opened on their 21st anniversary.
Entering into the new reception area, Kitware’s Logo Design is prominently featured on the wall. Kitware’s new headquarters includes 40,000 square feet of space and will hold all of their 180 employees. The company plans to increase personnel by a little over 20% in the next ten years.
With a growing customer base, founders of the company were concerned about the move and having to take down the servers for a period of time to relocate them to the new facility. The transition went smoothly and the servers were back up again in six hours. The new building’s increased internet speed will also help them assist their clients more efficiently.
As a company that started with only five employees, growth had forced it to operate out of two separate buildings for a time. Although the employees adjusted to having to go between buildings for daily business operations, it was an inconvenience, especially on bad weather days.
Employees working at the new location will have access to an auditorium, which can be used for a variety of company events. There is also a rooftop patio that the employees can use and enjoy.
