At Clifton Park, visitors can take a tour of Riverside Maple Farms to see how maple syrup was traditionally made in New England.
Riverside Maple Farms is sharing the family-friendly experience of harvesting maple syrup with its patrons. Obtained from a famous recipe found in the Little House on the Prairie, the process involves taking hot maple syrup and then pouring it onto shaved ice or snow, creating maple syrup treats once the candy solidifies in a mold.
Patrons can take a field trip around the maple farms to learn about how sap is collected in winter, from drilling holes into sugar maple trees to boiling the sap until only the syrup remains. More adventurous visitors are encouraged to participate in cross-country skiing or snowshoe hiking on the quarter-mile Maple-Beer trail, which passes through the Wolf Hollow Brewing Company.
Warm food is also available at The Mac Factor food truck, where patrons can grab a bowl of mac and cheese or pasta sprinkled with chili, mushrooms, panko bread, and other toppings. Patrons can take home an assortment of maple-flavored coffee and hand-made candies at the local gift shop. Logo Design can be used to display the brand on packaged goods at farms like this one.
These activities will be open to the public free of charge throughout February. Visiting hours for Sugar on Snow! are from 12:00 to 3:00 pm.
