The Capital Park Native Plant Society will be hosting a winter plant identification event in Clifton Park this February.
During this event, attendees will use clues such as texture, color, pattern of leaves, scent, and habitat to learn more about the plants that are challenging to identify during the winter months. The meeting point will be the parking zone of the Town Park; however, the outing will cover the trails in both south and north areas.
Attendees will use a guide displayed on their portable devices to identify marked plants throughout the route. Suitable footwear for ice and snow is advised, along with texting gloves for using the digital guide. Cancelation of the event may occur in adverse weather conditions, including heavy snow, strong winds, freezing rain, sleet, rain, or temperatures below 10°F.
Interested individuals must make a reservation to attend, and registered attendees will get a pre-event message consisting of a link to download the specific app for the event. The event is free, offering an enjoyable outing to explore and identify dormant winter plants.
