A major festival has been set for the Saratoga County Fairgrounds in Ballston Spa, a short distance from Clifton Park, and it promises to be worth the trip.
The annual Saratoga Balloon and BBQ Festival is a family-friendly event that brings together the best the region has to offer regarding live entertainment, food, activities for the kids, shopping, and, of course, balloons – not the kind on a string, but hot air balloons carrying passengers.
The festival runs for three days, starting on a Friday. That evening, the fun begins with a balloon launch at sunset, a Kids Zone presented by MVP Healthcare, a Dare Devil Dog Show, and Stewarts Balloon Glow. A balloon glow is the name given to the spectacular scene when balloon pilots light their burners after dark, illuminating the balloons from the inside out.
Saturday brings a sunrise balloon launch, another Dare Devil Dog Show and a Kids Zone, and a sunset balloon launch. The balloons launch only at these times because the winds are the calmest then. Tickets are available for balloon rides.
Sunday begins with a sunrise balloon launch, and the Kids Zone is back as well. New this day is the “Helping Our Vets” Car Show, and a steak cook-off.
The fun starts August 27 and runs through August 29, at the Saratoga County Fairgrounds. Banner printing can be used to create signage for outdoor events like this.
