Firefighting workshop planned in Clifton Park

An enhancer course for firefighters is to be held in Clifton Park this October.

The event is titled ‘Truck Skills Beyond the Textbook’ and will focus on improving the skills of firefighters in maneuvering trucks in emergency situations. Building on the skills acquired during training and early firefighter orientations, it will offer hands-on experience in carrying out tasks such as forcible entry, roof ventilation, tool use, and portable ladders. It seeks to address the issue of a lack of sufficient training grounds to allow firefighters to develop these skills on their own.

The session will be led by veteran Michael Ciampo. He served for 32 years within the New York City Fire Department, as well as an additional five years as a volunteer firefighter with the Washington D.C. Fire Department. Currently serving as a nationally recognized instructor for the NYSAFC, he has also written several textbooks concerning firefighting skills and attitudes.

The cost for registration for this event will be $35 per person for members of the NYSAFC, while non-members will pay $50. Brochure printing can be a helpful tool to give additional information at events like this one.

The classes will be held at the Clifton Park Fire Department on Tuesday, October 24, beginning at 7:00 pm. The venue can be found at 38 Old Route 146, Clifton Park.
