Ellis Medicine, which is located in Clifton Park, has been approved for a $21.4m expansion. The addition will have medical service offices on the second and third floor, with the first floor being occupied by an ambulatory surgery center.
The new addition will help support the community needs, which have increased since the urgent care center opened in 2012. With an expected completion of eight to ten months, developers will have time to work with local Print shops to solicit banner printing needs for the grand opening.
The new addition will have over 60,000 square feet and is almost two times bigger than the existing medical center. Included in the cost of the expansion is the building, equipment, and furnishings. Developers, MedCraft Healthcare Real Estate, expect the project to take about 10 months, with groundbreaking to begin this summer.
The addition will almost double the amount of available jobs at the center. Currently, there are 36 people and the added facility space will create a similar number of new positions to bring that total to 71. The construction itself will also create jobs, with an expected number of 160 people needed to complete the project.
The center is currently open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide a variety of services including emergent care. The center will accommodate parking for just under 400 vehicles on its 11.6-acre site.
