Music lovers able to spend a musical afternoon at library

The Bellerose branch of the Queens Library invites everyone to its upcoming Lincoln Center Local Screening series of a program called Unsung Carolyn Leigh.

This lyricist is behind such songs as “Young at Heart” and “Witch Craft” and has written songs for several Broadway musicals such as Peter Pan. The event will be free.

A trio of musicians and ten performers will be presenting 20 of Ms. Leigh’s lesser-known works. The hour-long performance will feature songs such as “Nothing is Forever”, “Enter Juliet” and “I Get Married” from the play Juliet. Also included in the night’s performance will be songs from Caesar’s Wife such as “Am I in Love Again”, “Walk on Air” and “All Woman” plus medleys of songs that were cut from Broadway shows. The highlight of the evening will be rare audio clips of original demo recordings by Ms. Leigh.

The Lincoln Center Screening is a series that streams programs monthly from its digital content collection to local libraries. This program includes world class performances from Live From Lincoln Center as well as from other of its live events.

Those who wish to attend may want to mark their Calendars now for March 10. The screening will be from 1:30 until 2:30 pm at the Bellerose branch at 250-06 Hillside Avenue, Bellerose.
