After Halloween has come and gone, Bellerose pumpkins will get one last chance to shine during an event planned for a local venue.
Queens Botanical Garden (QBG) has invited area residents to bring their jack o'lanterns and decorative gourds to its annual Pumpkin Smash. Entry will be free for the families that bring along a pumpkin, while normal admission rates will apply for everyone else.
The QBG Compost Team will have an area set up for the activity, and everyone can use the tools provided to squash their pumpkin. Along with this, there will be additional fun on offer, and light refreshments will be served to the crowd. The compost that is prepared during the Smash will be used in plantings around Queens, and the function will take place in the gardens’ compost yard. It will welcome the public from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm, and will be held rain or shine.
Fall days are often cool and crisp, and outside events may take full advantage of this. A poster printing company will be happy to prepare signage and other materials that are suitable for outdoor use, and many may be used over and over.
Bellerose families are invited to drop by the QBG for its annual Pumpkin Smash on November 9th. It will begin at 11:00 am, and regular parking rates will apply.
