What's Happening in Bellerose, NY…

Just outside Bellerose at the Wintrhop-University Hospital, a set of identical triplets made their debut on July 1. Parents Kelli and Jason Fenly introduced the trio to the public at a news conference on September 17.

The chances of having identical triplets are about one in a million, which surely will keep a local postcard printing business busy printing birth announcements and many more future milestone events for the triplets.

The boys were born at 29 weeks and each weighed less than 3lb. Owen Michael, Noah Charles, and Miles John spent 51 days in neonatal intensive care battling a variety of issues related to premature birth, but are all now healthy.

The babies went home last month, and the parents, now over the initial shock, are adjusting to their new life. The triplets have a little brother, two-year-old Aidan, who is helping his parents by calming his brothers when they cry at the same time, and adjusting to his now busy household.

The parents have a unique way of telling the triplets apart. They have color-coded them by painting a toenail of each one a different color (blue, gray and green) then dressing them in the matching color. The parents have noticed already that each boy has his own personality, which helps them identify with the uniqueness of each son even though they are identical.

The Fenlys have been acknowledged by hospital staff as being great parents and having remain composed as they face each day with their new larger family.
