Library to screen lady legends of Broadway performance

To get the weekend underway, Queens Library in Bellerose will be screening television and Broadway actress, Kristin Chenoweth’s recorded performance of ‘The Dames of Broadway- all of ‘em’.

The performance will feature Miss Chenoweth acting out scenes, singing, and dancing and will also feature appearances by Audra McDonald, Tyler Hanes, and Will Taylor.

Chenoweth’s performance was recorded as part of the ‘Live from Lincoln Center’ series in March of 2013 and was hosted by Tony award-winning performer Audra McDonald. In it, she salutes a host of Broadway singers, dancers, and lyricists, with an emphasis on the women filling those roles.

For the most part, she is alone on stage in the Allen Room at Time Warner Center, in New York, accompanied only by some props (including her Tony award), the occasional dancer, and pianist Mary-Mitchell Campbell. Chenoweth belts out tunes from the American songbook, such as ‘Wonderful Town’, ‘Funny Girl’, ‘Old Maid’, and ‘My White Knight’.

Included in the performance is a sampler of 16 comedy roles. Those who plan to attend may want to make sure their digital Business Cards are up to date, as they may want to share them with others at the screening.

The screening will take place tomorrow, December 11, at the Bellerose Library, 250-06 Hillside Avenue, Bellerose, from 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm. Admission will be free.
