The West Indian American Day Carnival Association will present its annual New York Caribbean Carnival Week 2019 at the end of this month.
Under Di Stars will get the party started playing reggae, afrobeats and soca on Thursday night.
On Friday, August 30th, the younger set takes over with the Youth Fest Summer Jam and Brass Fest hosted by Mc Wassy. Brass Fest will include Farmer Nappy, Patrice Roberts, RedMan, Kes the Band Skinny Fabulous, Problem Child and Motto. Entertainment will begin at 7:00 pm and end around 3:00 pm on August 31st.
Saturday will be the Steel Band Panorama and Junior Parade of the Bands. Sunday August 1st, Di Manche Gras will take to the stage and the grand finale on Monday will be the New York Caribbean Carnival Parade when adult, junior and kiddies bands will be vying for over $600 in prizes. Bands in parades such as this usually get some banner printing done to have Banners introducing them to the spectators.
Adult and junior individuals from Bellerose and the surrounding area dressed in appropriate-themed attire, such as ancient history, fancy sailor, creative topical, fantasy, African or modern history, original or authentic Indian, will be among the procession. The parade committee will choose junior and adult kings and queens.
New York Caribbean Carnival Week 2019 will be at the Brooklyn Museum, 200 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn from Thursday August 29th starting at 8:00 am until 8:00 pm Sunday September 2nd.
