Pruning can be a beneficial skill to the home gardener, and a Bellerose area workshop will teach newbies how to use their pruners properly.
A daylong short course is being offered by New York Botanical Garden that will introduce a variety of pruning techniques. It is for adults only, with Ann Perkowski serving as the facilitator for the class.
The learners will be taught the fundamentals of pruning evergreens as well as deciduous shrubs and trees, and they will also receive tips for general care of the plants in their own garden. Everyone is asked to bring their own pruners from home, and there will be a discussion about the various types, such as anvil and bypass styles. The group will practice their new skills on some potted plants that will be provided, and everyone is asked to dress for the weather and bring a packed lunch. Proof of full vaccination is required.
Workshops give community members an opportunity to learn in a supportive environment. A flyer printing company often proves to be a useful partner in promoting events like this to members of the public who may be interested in attending.
The New York Botanical Garden will be offering this class on Sunday, March 27. It will be taking place at 2900 Southern Boulevard in the Bronx.
