Bellerose workshop to explore wide world of pollinators

As more people become aware of the importance of pollinators, a class has been organized for the Bellerose area that will provide an insider’s view into these helpful creatures.

While people may know quite a bit about the more “popular” type of pollinators such as honeybees, they may not be as familiar with other species, and the organizers of the activity want to change that. The session will last for one hour, and it is scheduled for the Growing Love Community Garden in Port Washington.

The group will discuss a variety of pollinators, including bees, butterflies, moths, beetles, birds, and bats. They will find out how to attract them all to their garden by providing them with suitable food and living spaces, and maybe even room to raise a family. Anyone who would like to transform their yard into a pollinator garden is asked to bring either a Google maps printout or simple sketch of their property with them.

This learning opportunity is being made available to community members for free, and advance registration is required. Additional materials may add more value to an educational activity, and they can be prepared by Stationery printers.

This opportunity for the public to discover area pollinators and the role they play in their respective ecosystems is scheduled for September 10. It will begin at 4:30 pm sharp.
