Bellerose learns how to care for houseplants

Bellerose residents who want to get growing indoors have been offered a seat in class that may help them get started.

Space at the Brooklyn Grange at Sunset Park has been reserved for a workshop that will give anyone who would like to add some plants to their living space tools they can use to hit the ground running. It will cover the basics of home horticulture, and its scheduled run time is two and a half hours.

During the activity, the presenter will discuss cultural practices such as fertilizing and watering, and will also talk about pests that may attack indoor plants. Choosing the right variety for a particular location is on the agenda, and factors such as lighting and humidity will be included as well. Propagation techniques such as division and root cuttings are also on the slate for review.

At the end of the session, everyone will receive a new green friend to help them get started at adding plants to their home. A flyer printing company often proves to be a valuable partner in marketing small local events to the community.

This introduction to the benefits of houseplants has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 8, and it will kick off at 6:30 pm. It will be on offer at 850 3rd Avenue in Brooklyn.
