Bellerose invited to pick a perfect pumpkin

A visit to a pumpkin patch is a Halloween activity not always available to urban families, but a Bellerose area event will soon change that.

Queens Botanical Garden gives the public a chance to experience nature, and it has plans in the works for a pumpkin patch on its property. It will be open on select dates in October, and along with the chance to choose a pumpkin to take home, the families that take part will be offered an opportunity to enjoy some environmentally themed fun.

The patch will provide some fun photo ops, and there will be activity stations where the kids can plant seeds and learn more about how the science of botany is put to practical use in horticulture and agriculture. A book reading, chalk art, and costume characters are all on the agenda, and tickets start at $8.

To add more fun to the day, adults in the crowd will be invited to sit back and relax with harvest- or pumpkin-themed craft beer. Reusable Drinkware can be an environmentally friendly choice for an event where food and drinks will be served, and it can be printed with almost any graphic design.
