The generosity of the community of Bellerose will be on full display during a food drive and fundraiser planned for this fall.
Island Harvest has joined forces with PSGE Long Island to bring Power to Feed Long Island to the area, and this new initiative provides an easy way for the public to give their neighbors in need a hand up. A variety of gifts in kind and monetary donations will all be welcome, and these will then be passed along to the final recipients.
The organizers have planned a variety of events, and one of these will be taking place at Garden City Park’s King Kullen. Non-perishable donations will be accepted, and there are plenty of healthy options that can be stored for a long period of time. Everyone is asked to remember that pets may also experience food insecurity, and the contribution of pet food and supplies such as litter, hay, and treats is encouraged.
One of the ways the planners of a food drive like this can ensure it will be a success is by providing the public with a list of items needed. A poster printing company will be able to prepare materials like this, as well as Flyers that may be sent to local households to increase awareness of an event.
There are six different collection events planned for Long Island, and the Bellerose area instalment will be held on September 24. More details, including a list of the items most needed, can be found on the function’s website.
