April and early May are ideal months for going to the Queens County Farm Museum. Three outdoor events are being planned at the venue, operated by the Colonial Farmhouse Restoration Society of Bellerose, Inc.
On Saturday, April 11 there will be a Barnyard Egg Hunt from 11:00 am until 3:00 pm. Tickets, priced at $10, must be purchased in advanced. Children must supply their own baskets and egg hunts will take place multiple times during the event. Whiskers the Bunny will meet guests and everyone can try their hand at egg rolling and egg tossing. The farm animals will be greeting guests and folks can enjoy a hayride. Food vendors will be onsite selling festive food and treats.
The Apple Blossom Children’s Carnival will take place from 11:00 am until 6:00 pm on April 18 and 19, and again on April 25 and 26. Carnival rides in the orchard, midway games and hayrides will be included in the $15 admission.
Sheep shearing and wool spinning demonstrations will be featured at the Sheep Shearing Festival on Saturday, May 9. Museum farmers will be conducting in-depth tours of the farm and Con Edison Ecology will have a booth geared to recycling and the local composting program. Guests can purchase vegetable and flower seedlings and listen to live music.
Sometimes, a local business will promote itself by placing its Logo Design on a vendor’s paper products, such as cups and plates.
