Bellerose area golf tournament to honor brave frefighter

A foundation has been set up in honor of a courageous firefighter, and it has scheduled a golf tournament to raise money in his memory.

On the fateful day of September 11, 2001, firefighter Stephen Siller donned his 60 pounds of turnout gear and ran through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel towards the Twin Towers, to help out where he could. Sadly, he didn’t make it back.

The Bellerose area fundraising tournament will support the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, which helps to address housing issues faced by first responders and veterans. Its New York Golf Classic will take place at Lake Success Golf Club, and there are several ticket packages to choose from.

Those who choose one of the golf packages will receive the use of a cart, and breakfast, lunch, and dinner are also included. A dinner-only option is available for those who can't or don't play golf, and local businesses and service groups are also welcome to get involved by choosing to serve as a sponsor.

To thank attendees for their support, they will be gifted a welcome bag of Promotional Products, and sponsoring these is one of the choices on the fundraiser's sponsorship package list. There are lots of others available, and they start at the $200.00 level. Monetary donations are also welcome.

This day of golf held in honor of Stephen Siller and other first responders and veterans will open with breakfast and check in at 10:00am. The shotgun start is set for 11:30am on Monday, May 20.
