What's Happening in Bellerose, NY…

Monarch butterflies have come to represent the importance of pollinators, and those who call the Bellerose area home will have an opportunity to learn more about these long-distance fliers.

The Queens County Farm Museum offers a variety of programming, and the Monarchs installment of its Bug Buddies series will explore the life cycle of these butterflies in the "brush foot” group. The registration fee is $12, and the session is suited to kids from the ages of 3 to 10.

In what will be a hands-on event, participating children will find out how monarchs and milkweed are interconnected, and if the weather cooperates, the activity will take place both indoors and outdoors. Young guests will learn how they can lend them a helping hand by creating a pollinator-friendly garden. A parent or guardian must remain on site with their child throughout the activity.
