Reno to host celebration of delicious ingredient

Reno will be paying homage to a commonly used ingredient with an event in late July.

Reno Garlic Fest is a gathering in which local companies and artisans come together to show off their love of the popular ingredient. Attendees can sample a variety of dishes, buy garlic-based or themed products, watch cooking and growing demonstrations, learn from nonprofits and farmers, listen to music, and participate in exciting activities. The festival, created by the organization Reno Food Systems, is in its fifth year. Their co-host is the Be the Change Project.

Chefs and growing experts will lead live showcases of recipes and gardening tips, including a discussion about the black garlic variety. Some of the drink and meal options at the celebration include margaritas, fried rice, doughnuts, hot dogs, fries, beer, ice cream, and BBQ.

A few products being sold through farmers and other vendors include seeds, fresh garlic, jam, garlic powder, popcorn, and garlic salt. Kids have a park area to play in, with other activities including a photo booth, face painting, crafts, and caricature drawings. Flyer printing is frequently used to advertise festivals.

Admission is completely free. Guests are asked to come with their own water bottles, as the organizers are running a low-waste event. The venue is the Dick Taylor Memorial Park. The celebration will run from 3:30pm to 7:30pm on July 29th.
