A Reno event taking place in mid-March is bringing locals a fun and healthy way to celebrate a popular holiday.
The Leprechaun Race is an activity from Reno Running Company. The event takes place to pay tribute to St. Patrick’s Day. In it, participants run or walk their way through a route measuring five kilometers. There is also a separate kids’ race of 0.6 kilometers. Both start at the same point.
In the 5k, there are adult and youth categories, with the latter applying to those aged 19 or younger. The race for children is open to those who are up to age 10. For runners in the 5k who manage to outpace the leprechaun mascot, there will be a special gift.
Registration is available on the Reno Running Company website. For the Kids’ Leprechaun Dash, the price is $10. For standard registration of the 5k, adults have a fee of $45 while youths pay $25. For late registration, the youth price stays the same, while the adult price goes up to $50.
The starting point of both races is Reno’s City Plaza. Participants will go through the midtown and downtown districts. Everyone is encouraged to dress up in themed attire. Many race organizers use promotion methods like banner printing around the location of the event.
The 5k starts at 8:30 am, with the Kids’ Dash following at 9:15am. The date is Sunday, March 15.
