Reno film festival to kick off with orchestral score
A group of Reno musicians will be adding their talents to a presentation of a beloved movie in late September.
Screenings of The Princess Bride will be starting off the Cordillera Film Festival, with the first date also including an in-person panel with several of the stars of the movie.
The Reno Phil, a local orchestra that has been around since 1969, will be playing the score to the film, providing a live performance element to the screening and making the viewing experience more immersive.
The Princess Bride is a 1987 film that tells the tale of a farmhand who became a pirate and his journey to connect with his love interest, as well as the struggles and opposition he faced along the way.
Directed by Rob Reiner, the cast of the movies includes such names as André René Roussimoff (aka Andre the Giant), Cary Elwes, Peter Falk, Chris Sarandon, Robin Wright, Wallace Shawn, and Mandy Patinkin. The film has a PG rating.
Tickets are sold via Ticketmaster, with prices ranging between $59.75 and $115.45. This applies to both performance dates. Concerts are like this are commonly promoted with the use of flyer printing.
