The Guild Cinema in Albuquerque is hosting A Maker’s Matinee next month.
People are invited to get creative with fiber arts, such as sewing or crocheting, while watching a movie, 2005’s Pride and Prejudice.
Fiber Arts on 4th, a hub for fiber artists in New Mexico, is presenting the screening. There will be swag Bags with merch at the screening, offered by Fiber Arts on 4th and Woven Skies.
People are allowed and encouraged to bring whatever supplies they might need for crafting to the screening — as long as it fits in the individual’s seat — including looms, needles, and yarns. Crafting events like this may use professional Stationery printing to create templates, instruction sheets, and supply lists.
The Guild Cinema is Albuquerque’s oldest continuously used movie theater, with the venue offering snacks on sale during the screening. Originally opened in 1966, its current iteration began a few years later under new ownership, in 1971. It debuted with a nostalgia-focused double screening of the old Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers serials from the 1930s. Today, the theater offers an eclectic mix of cinematic throwbacks, hidden gems, new films, and performance art.
A Maker’s Matinee - Pride and Prejudice is happening on Sunday, March 1 at 12:30 pm at the Guild Cinema at 3405 Central Ave NE in Albuquerque.
