Classic childrens adventure screens in Albuquerque
The Albuquerque International District Library will screen the 1995 film Jumanji as part of its Sunday Family Movie night this summer.
The film centers on a boy who finds a magical board game about surviving the jungle. The more he plays, the more it becomes clear he must survive the jungle dangers in real life to win. As child, he is sucked into the jungle of the game, only to emerge back into our world as an adult to help a new set of children survive the trials of unruly monkeys, stomping elephants, giant spiders and a ruthless hunter.
The film stars Robin Williams as Alan Parrish, who was forced to live in the jungle for 26 years in the world of the film. His childhood friend is played by Bonnie Hunt, portraying Sarah Whittle, who was present when Alan got sucked into the game as a child. The film also stars future Spider-Man actress Kirsten Dunst in an early role.
Jumanji was recognized for its groundbreaking use of computer-generated imagery for the time, winning a 1996 Saturn Award for Best Special Effects.
Film screenings like this may choose to use printing services to create flyers, posters or promotional material.
Jumanji is screening as part of Sunday Family Movie night on August 3 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the International District Library at 7601 Central Ave NE in Albuquerque.
