Childrens flea market scheduled in Albuquerque

Albuquerque will host the Children’s Entrepreneur Market this spring.

The event is a flea market run by children. Parents and other adults will be present to help supervise, but it is meant as a hands-off event so as to provide a learning experience for children and encourage entrepreneurship.

Vendors can register for $25, while those who wish to attend as a customer browsing the market can gain admission for $2 per pedestrian and $10 per car.

The Children’s Entrepreneur Market is a national organization that now operates in 44 states, with over 43,000 children participating since its inception in 2017. Originally formed in Utah, the mission of the organization is to help support child entrepreneurs as they establish themselves in the coming years. Other recent events have been held in Oklahoma, Colorado and Pennsylvania.

The children are front and center with these markets, including being in charge of selling their own products, which can be handmade goods or services. Participants can be ages 5 to 17. Each vendor booth is a 10’x10’ space where the child and parents can bring all their own supplies to set up. Youth markets like these may choose to use banner printing to display at vendor booths.

The Children’s Entrepreneur Market is happening on Saturday, May 3 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the EXPO NM Flea Market in Albuquerque at 300 San Pedro Dr. NE.
