The Festival de Bellas Artes is scheduled to return to Albuquerque this April.
Organized by the National Hispanic Center and Albuquerque Public Schools, this festive event is designed to encourage and support young Albuquerque peoples’ skills and performances in multicultural dance and music.
Art Forms that will be involved in the Festival de Bellas Artes include Mariachi, Folklorico, Taiko, Flamenco, hip hop, African drumming and dance, and Middle Eastern dance. Teachers can register students for the festival in groups. Elementary, middle, and high school who have been working on their artistic abilities during the school year are eligible for registration.
The sign-up fee is priced at $50 for groups from private and charter schools, $35 for APS public schools, and free for Title 1 schools or other Albuquerque institutions that have struggled financially due to the coronavirus pandemic. Attendance fees must be submitted by P.O. or by check to NHCCF — FDBA. Flyer printing is chosen by many organizers of similar events to provide their target audience with printouts that detail essential event information and sign-up instructions.
Each participating group must shoot and send in their video submissions on time to be featured as pre-recorded films during the five days of the online live festival.
The virtual Festival de Bellas Artes will take place from Monday, April 5 to Friday, April 9.
