Spring has nearly arrived in Somerville, and area residents who are itching to enjoy the sunlight will have an opportunity to learn more about the town’s history.
The Somersteps: Finding Hope Farm Hike is opening registration online to area residents who are ready to lace up their hiking boots on an immersive learning adventure. Participants will explore the grounds of Hope Farm, a historic homestead, with the trail leading to the Raritan River Greenway.
Attendees will learn more about the Wallace House, which was built over 250 years ago. The hike will also explore the history of the Dutch Underway Passage and its preservation, along with the role the area played in the American Revolution. Organizers can use brochure printing to create educational materials for guests to share more details from throughout history for a more in-depth learning experience.
The walk will cover 3.1 miles, and participants are asked to dress for the weather, including wearing sturdy footwear. The path is mostly flat and paved. Water and snacks are also encouraged, as the walk is expected to last around 1.5 hours. The adventure will end at the Wallace House.
The adventure is scheduled for Saturday, April 25th, at 3:00 PM. The address is 71 Somerset Street in Somerville. Interested parties can reserve their spot online, and admission is free.
