Somerville to celebrate locals with festival

An early May event is putting the spotlight on Somerville residents and their skills.

PorchFest is an event which is organized by the community, with applications fielded by the city’s Arts Council and staff from the Public Safety group. Residents open up their porches and front lawns to musicians from the area. Guests travel around the city to these spots to listen to their performances and enjoy what their hometown has to offer.

The instruments and style of music will vary between each act. The event will have three different zones, each having its own set hours where the talent will be taking to their stages.

The first zone will be the West Zone, which is located to the west of Willow Avenue, with the open hours being 12:00pm to 2:00pm. The second zone, known as the Central Zone, will be located between Willow Avenue and Central Street. The hours will be 2:00pm to 4:00pm. The final zone, the East Zone, is located to the east of Central Street. The hours for this zone will be 4:00pm to 6:00pm.

Guests are welcome to walk or bike around the zones as they explore the music scene of Somerville. Many music related events will make use of poster printing as a promotion technique, putting a selection of the included talent on the Posters to get people excited for the show. PorchFest 2026 will take place on May 9th.
