Local event maintains historic tradition

An event taking place in early November is giving people a chance to experience a long-standing tradition, as well as a creative peek into history.

Lantern Walk 2025 is an event put together by Raritan Headwaters. The non-profit organization is focused on conservation and protecting both water and land.

The lantern walk comes from a festival in Europe that marks the season of autumn, the close of the agricultural year, and the start of the harvest. Celebratory music will play in the background as attendees walk throughout the venue’s land with their lanterns glowing brightly in the night sky.

When arriving earlier on in the event, younger guests can enjoy a fairy ball, flower crowns, and face painting. Everyone can also grab some wood-fired pizza as a treat from Testo Pizza.

The venue for the festival is Fairview Farm Wildlife Preserve, which is just a short distance from Somerville in Bedminster. Tickets are $15 for children and $25 for adults. Both include a lantern in addition to entry to the event. There is also a space for optional donations on the event page. Flyer printing is a popular promotion technique for activities that help organizations behind good causes.

The event is scheduled for 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, November 9, with a rain date of November 16 also planned.
