Trainers association to give certification course in Somerville

People interested in a career as a personal trainer can attend a class in July held at the Somerville YMCA.

The Personal Trainer Certification course is an in-person workshop where aspiring trainers can prepare for their upcoming exams with the help of an experienced instructor from the National Exercise Trainers Association (NETA). The two-day class will use a mix of interactive activities and discussions to educate students. It is suggested that participants prepare for the lesson in advance by purchasing the Fitness Professional's Manual and studying on their own time.

NETA is a non-profit group dedicated to training exercise professionals. The organization has been operating for more than 45 years and has helped train over 160,000 people. The association is also a member of the Coalition for the Registration of Exercise Professionals. Several certifications are offered by NETA in areas such as indoor cycling, kettlebell, youth fitness, and advanced Pilates. The group even offers courses for nutrition coaches.

The certification course will be held on July 9 and July 10, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The cost to participate in NETA's workshop is $549, which will include a written personal trainer certification exam. The price for a hardcopy version of the Fitness Professional's Manual is $59. All attendees are expected to have a CPR and AED certification before taking this course. Instructors for lessons like these may use Print shops to make marketing materials for their classes.
