Residents in Basking Ridge, and nearby Somerville, can take part in a run or walk that will help out families in need.
The Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center will host the timed '5K Race to Victory: Heroes versus Villains' later this week. There will also be an untimed 1K family fun walk. Participants can come dressed up in their favorite superhero or villain getup.
Proceeds from the event will go to help disadvantaged children have access to the organization’s preschool. Runners will be grouped together and medals will be given to the top three male and female performers in each age group.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available. Interested organizations can either become a ‘Batman’ or ‘Robin’ sponsor. No doubt a local banner printing service has made a large sign to welcome participants to the event. Sponsors’ logos are often included on Banners.
Rain or shine, both events will kick off on April 26 at 9:30, am while check-in starts at 8:30 am. Registration for the 5K costs $25 and $20 for the 1K fun walk. The 1K registration can be for an individual or a family. Online registration ends on April 26 at 9:15 am and also requires a $3.50 fee.
