Drum Doula will be holding a crafting event in March at the Samsara Chiropractic Wellness Center in Somerville.
The Medicine Drum Birthing Ceremony is an activity where people can construct their own medicine drums while learning about old traditions. The crafts will be made from elk-hide and a cedar frame. Participants can also choose the size of their drum. Once the drums are completed, the instructor Mia Luz will drum over each creation to finish the experience. People who organize workshops similar to this may draw extra attention to their classes by using flyer printing.
Mia Luz is a ceremonial guide who holds drum birthing ceremonies throughout the year. Past venues for the activity include Mama Flowers Kutztown, The Enchanted Heart, and the Well-being Healing Center. She creates a safe and non-judgmental space for her students to help them achieve a deeper transformation from her workshops. Luz has also appeared on Amanda Gate's podcast in 2017 to discuss Sacred Space and the power of vibration.
The drum birthing ceremony will be held on Saturday, March 5 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The cost to build a 14" drum is $295, and constructing an 18" drum is $355. Participants can either register on the event page or through Venmo. Registrants must provide their email address, the date of the workshop, and preferred drum size.
